Exciting Announcement: Launching Our New Flagship Program for Children with Disabilities!
We are thrilled to introduce our new flagship program, dedicated to ensuring that children with disabilities have the support they need to thrive academically and beyond. In collaboration with the National Council of people with disabilities , we are committed to providing opportunities that empower these remarkable individuals to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
Our goal is simple yet profound: to ensure that every child with disabilities has access to quality education and the resources necessary to succeed throughout high school and beyond. Through this program, we aim to break down barriers, champion inclusivity, and foster a supportive environment where every child can reach their full potential.
One of the key components of our flagship program is the provision of scholarships, which will enable children with disabilities to access the education and support they deserve. These scholarships will be available starting September 2024, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will have on the lives of our young scholars.
We are deeply grateful for the collaboration and support of the National Council in making this program a reality. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for children with disabilities across our community and beyond.
As we look forward to the launch of this program in September 2024, we invite you to join us in our mission to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these extraordinary individuals.
We are excited about the journey ahead and the positive impact we can create together.
Sanitary Towels Distribution
BET Foundation and Golden Girl have partnered in distributing sanitary towels to girls in different parts of Nakuru County. In Kuresoi South, the program was held at Korao Primary where 500 girls were given sanitary towels in June 2015.
Since then, the program has been held in Kaptembwa, Rhonda, London and Barut, all Wards of Nakuru West Constituency.
Over 1500 girls have benefited since March 2020.
Alternative Rites of Passage
In the last three years, Alternative Rites of Passage programs have been conducted at Kaptembwa and Chemaner in Nakuru County.
Through the one-week program, 30 girls were instructed in 2017, 93 in 2018 and 250 in 2019. Our curriculum comprises various topics including dangers of Female Genital Mutilation, early marriage, early pregnancies, peer pressure and influence of technology and career guidance among others.
Adult Education and Life Skills
Support is not only for the young.
Adults have been taught on many issues ranging from social security, family planning and the need to educate their children and adults on Alternative Rites of Passage, something that is held in high esteem by many in Kenyan communities.
Youth Programs
We have in the past collaborated with other organizations like Afya Uzazi and government agencies to provide youth education, art programs, athletic activities, home help programs, youth church camps, and leadership programs.
Health Programs
Communities have also been sensitized on healthy practices and methods. We have encouraged people to live in well-drained environments to avoid malaria, eat well cooked food, improve sanitation practices to avoid the spread of contagious diseases as well as providing education on protective measures to mitigate the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Masks, Sanitizer Tanks and Food
Extra support was offered throughout the recent health situation of Kenya, with distribution of about 200 sanitizer tanks, food to over 1,015 people and masks to over 3,000 people as well as helping create awareness on how to keep Covid-19 away and in following the Ministry of Health’s laid down procedures.
Our target groups were the boda boda industry, places of worship, market places, widows and orphans.
