Who We Are

Established by Emily Korir and Bernard Korir Tanui who are based in South Australia, the Foundation has been working since 2015 on its aims to end Female Genital Mutilation, and support families of children with disability in Africa.

About Emily

A writer, CEO, stroke survivor, keynote speaker and strong advocate in stroke, brain injury and disability awareness. Emily Korir has made a life and career of supporting and empowering the vulnerable in the community.

Following a harrowing stroke in 2012, Emily showed amazing grit and determination. Throughout her recovery Emily never wavered. She fulfilled a year of gruelling physical rehabilitation followed by completing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Human Resource Management and then a Masters in Disability Policy and Practice (MDPP).

Emily shifted her focus into a new business, becoming a registered NDIS provider, now the fastest growing and most innovative disability housing service provider in South Australia and Victoria.

Her company, BET Group Global, has a strong mission to “change the narrative by creating a future where people with disabilities have REAL CHOICE and access to ALL opportunities, not just some, not a few, but ALL opportunities”. As an extension to this, Emily continues to advocate for Choice and Control for people with disabilities living in the bush in Australia and seeks to build the first accessible respite home in Kenya for children with disabilities.

Emily is well respected and recognised for her commitment to the community, receiving several awards, including her recognition as the Young Leader of the Year at the Celebration of African Australians (2014), induction into the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll (2015) as the first African woman, and appointed Ambassador for the UN International Women’s Day Campaign #BeBoldForChange (2017).
